Hey guys, Baus here.

I just want to explain a few things about referrals. If you are the type of person who is interested in referring others to the game, now would be an advantageous time to do it, while the game is new, fresh, and not everyone has heard about it yet.

Some players have taken advantage of this novelty factor already and have amassed hundreds of referrals. It will be much easier to get referrals now than it will be later. :)

Also, our referral rewards are based on levels - so the more players you refer, the more points you get per player. Referral points add up quickly, and you can trade them in for credits at a 1:1 ratio. As an example, referring 17 people will give you 52 credits - enough for an upgrade.

Just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the levelling reward system, so if you want to you can take advantage of it. :) If you have any questions, let me know!

Re: chat - the chat is coming back, I promise! I know you guys miss it, I miss it too. Unfortunately the chat needs to be recoded from scratch, as the current version unfortunately uses too many hardware resources and can't handle our traffic. There have also been some interesting discussions on the suggestions board - don't worry, we read everything - and some of them will be getting implemented, but right now the chat is our first priority. Great ideas floating around there though :D

Yay lots of news posts today!

We've implemented a fix for the blank-page issue from the previous news post. A single turn will now only go through 100 dogs at a time, so if you have more dogs worked at once, then you'll need to use several turns in order to advance the turn for all of them.

Dogs which have been lent to you for a set number of turns, whether they are worked or not, are prioritized and will be returned (if they need to be), although they may not be returned unworked to the original owner depending on if they fell into your 100 or not.

We've also implemented a handy little counter just below your Next Turn button that'll tell you how many dogs you've worked so far this turn, as well as serve to remind you that the next turn can't actually process more than 100 dogs at a time.

Hey guys,

There is currently a missing catch in the code that will result in a time-out of the advance turn script, and give you a blank page, if you try to advance the turn with more than 100 dogs worked at one time.

We are implementing a fix for this, but in the meantime, please make sure you have less than 100 dogs worked at the time you are trying to advance your turn!

If you do accidentally end up running into this blank page issue, please message me (#1) and we'll take care of it.

This is a brand new game with some issues still unresolved, so we appreciate the patience you guys have shown and continue to show while we sort everything out. :) Thank you!

Hey guys, chat is going to be disabled until further notice while we try to figure out what is causing all these server crashes. This is probably going to take a few days at least. Sorry! :(

You can still use forums and private messaging though. :)

Hey guys, Baus here.

We are indeed back! The recode is complete save for some behind the scenes features - but that only affects administration and not gameplay.

New features are here!

1) Time is now a little faster - every turn takes up 2 months of the dog's life. To match, we've changed puppy status to last until 6 months, and heats are now less frequent for newly imported dogs.

2) There is a mass pet-homing feature in the Actions tab on your kennel page.

3) The only imports available are now 2-year-olds.

4) In-game breeds are now importable. How this works is that every characteristic specified by the breed creator will be specified for the import, and all the other characteristics will be pulled at random. All health disorder characteristics in the game will be visible on every dog that is an in-game breed (doesn't mean the dog will have them, but you'll be able to test them). Currently there is no technically feasible way to change this.

5) Some health chars will now be able to be tested many times, as the DNA tests for those issues don't exist. Even if your dog doesn't have the disorder, you'll still have the "Clear at the time of examination" pop up appear.

If you see any bugs, please put them on the bugs board, and we'll get them fixed up.

Welcome back and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Hey guys,

Taylor just informed me that if all goes well, the recode should be ready to test early next week.

If you'd like to participate in the testing, please reply to this news post!

Basically here is how it will work:
Those of you who want to participate will receive an email when we are ready with a link to a separate version of the game. You'll need to register yourself a temporary account, and play the game in as many ways as you can to try to break it. Anything that you have found that doesn't function the way you'd expect it to should then be posted on the Bug board of that version of the game.

Please note that your accounts and dogs on the test version will be wiped! Your accounts and dogs from this main game will be saved and transferred over after the test version has had its bugs resolved.

The testing period will last as long as we need to find and fix all the major bugs - therefore the more people we have participating and searching, the faster that'll happen and the faster we'll be able to open the game to new members!

If you're interested in testing, please respond here. :)

EDIT: Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are here!!

Hey guys,

The recode is going smoothly. There is slightly more work to it than was anticipated, but we're on track to complete within 3-4 weeks and roll it out to you guys. It's performing very well so far, lots of bugs have been fixed, the server loves the new framework. Things that were causing near-crash server loads are now barely registering on the scale.

Closer to the completion, I'll be inviting anyone who wants to to participate in an intensive testing session of the recode. More details on that later, but keep an eye on the news. :)

When we do move the recode live, there will be a weekend of downtime while we migrate all your accounts and dogs over.

When we move, there will be a change in aging for your dogs - every turn will now age your dogs by 2 months instead of 1. We'll try this out for a few weeks and see what the feedback is like, and either turn back or proceed with the new sped up aging system. This is being done because dogs seem to lose their usefulness around 4-5 years old, long before most have a chance to begin getting old - and very few have died. This will hopefully increase the use of their life span, as well as make choosing what to test and what not to test a more interesting choice.

Oh and guess what? We've figured out a way to allow player-created breeds to be imported. :) So that will be a new feature as well.

I know things have gotten slow here last few weeks. I appreciate you all for sticking with us and I look forward to a renewed level of activity once we're in a position to invite new members again. :)

Pomeranians and Shiba Inu now have breed art. You might need to refresh your page if its not showing up.

Dobies are almost ready too, and I've got a good backlog of art now for art for currently pending breeds. :)
Edit: Dobie art is up too!

In other news, the recode is going very well and Taylor's just a few weeks away from finishing it!

Doberman Pinschers are now live in the game! Please let me know if you notice any issues with them. A huge thank you to Kodama #93 and Taboo #133 for submitting the Dobies!

Dobermans are not the most healthy breeds. With them, they bring two new issues - Colour Dilution Alopecia, which occurs in many breeds and is tied to the colour Blue in dogs (the dd genotype on the Dilution locus). Isabella-based dogs are affected too. Dobies have an extremely high incidence of hair loss due to dilution, unlike other breeds who are also affected.

A slightly scarier new disorder is Dilated Cardiomyopathy, which occurs in a majority of dobermans. This is a disorder where the walls of the heart are weak. Most often, onset is sudden and death follows shortly. Its a late-onset disorder, occurring between 4-10 years of age. This also occurs in Great Danes, but to a much lesser degree.

Artwork is similarly not yet ready. We're moving towards it though!
Enjoy your new Dobies. :)

A small little update for today - I've included Liver noses into the game as of now. Your current dogs may start throwing liver-nosed puppies, and you will start seeing liver-nosed imports as well. The nose colour of existing dogs will not change.
